Introduction
Novaz (“we,” “us” or “our”) takes your privacy seriously. A storage cleaner has to look at your photos, videos and contacts, so this policy explains exactly what happens to them when you visit cleaner.novaz.app and use Novaz Cleaner: Clean Up Storage (the “App,” and together with our website the “Services”).
When we refer to personal data we mean any information relating to an identified or identifiable natural person. For the purposes of the GDPR, Novaz is the data controller unless otherwise stated.
Our privacy-first approach
- Everything happens on your iPhone. Photos, videos and contacts are analyzed on your device. Nothing is uploaded to us.
- No account and no server. You don’t sign up, and the App has no Novaz server to send your data to.
- No tracking and no advertising. The App contains no ads and no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs, and does not track you across apps or websites.
- We do not sell or share your data.
Information the App uses
Photos and videos
With your permission, the App reads your photo library to find duplicates, similar shots, screenshots, screen recordings, chat photos and large videos. The comparison runs on your device. When you delete items, iOS moves them to the Recently Deleted album in Photos. With permission to add photos, the App saves compressed videos — and items you take out of Secret Space — back to your library. You can change photo access at any time in iOS Settings.
Contacts
With your permission, the App reads your contacts to find duplicates and incomplete entries so you can merge or remove them. Contact backups you create are kept on your device. Your contacts never leave your device.
Secret Space
Photos, videos and contacts you move into Secret Space are stored inside the App on your device. Your PIN is stored only as a salted hash in the iOS Keychain. Face ID is handled entirely by iOS; the App only receives whether the unlock succeeded and never sees your biometric data. The camera and microphone are used, with your permission, only to capture photos and videos straight into Secret Space. Items in Secret Space are not sent anywhere — which also means we can’t recover them if you delete them or the App.
Storage information
The App reads your device’s total and available storage to show how much space you have and how much you can free. This stays on your device.
Notifications and widgets
Reminders (for example, a nudge to clean up, or a reminder before a free trial ends) are scheduled on your device. The storage and photo-album widgets read from the App on your device.
Our other apps
The App can show a list of other Novaz apps. To do this it loads a public list of our apps from novaz.app and their public App Store details. These requests contain no personal data.
Contact information
If you email us (for example at support@novaz.app), we receive the information you choose to include and use it only to respond to you. Please don’t send your Secret Space PIN or private photos.
Website analytics
Our website (not the App) uses Umami, a privacy-friendly, cookieless analytics tool that records aggregate, non-identifying statistics such as page views, referring sites, approximate country, browser and device type.
Payment information
If you subscribe to PRO, billing is handled entirely by Apple under its own terms and privacy policy. The App checks your subscription status with Apple on your device. We do not receive your payment details.
How we use information
- to provide the Services and their features on your device;
- to understand, in aggregate, how our website is used;
- to respond to your questions and support requests;
- to protect the security of our Services and comply with law.
Sharing of your information
We do not sell or share your personal data. We use Apple (App Store distribution and billing) and Umami (website analytics). We may disclose information if required by law, or where we believe in good faith that disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or someone’s safety.
Data retention and deletion
Everything the App stores is on your device, so you control it. Deleting the App removes its data, including anything in Secret Space — move items you want to keep back to Photos first. Support emails are kept only as long as needed to handle your request.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal information. For anything we hold (such as support emails), contact us at support@novaz.app.
Children’s privacy
The Services are not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Changes to this Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time and will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do.
