Set up a charging animation on iPhone
iOS doesn't let apps run on their own when you connect a charger, so the charging animation uses a Shortcuts automation to start it for you.
Set it up
- Open Charging Animation in the app and tap Set Up Animation — follow the steps it shows.
- In the Shortcuts app, open the Automation tab and create a new automation.
- Choose Charger, select Is Connected, and set it to run immediately.
- Add the action the app's steps describe, then tap Done.
Good to know
Set it up once and the animation plays whenever you plug in. Delete the automation in Shortcuts to turn it off.
FAQ
- Why do I need Shortcuts?
- Apple only lets automations react to a charger being connected, so the app uses one to launch the animation.
