Keep or remove the original after compressing
The compressed video is saved as a new copy, so your storage only drops once the original is gone.
Remove the original
- After compression finishes, check the new copy in Photos.
- Tap Remove Original Video in the app.
- The original moves to Recently Deleted for 30 days — empty it in Photos to get the space back now.
